What do students say?
Haruka, 19
I had nice days here with host family and Pat and their friends!!! |
Marie, 20
I’ll never forget Quadra’s life with you. I enjoyed your lessons very much. I could see a lot of things I have never, and everything is so interesting and nice for me. I love Rocks and Trees in Quadra!! I had an enjoyable two weeks! Thank you! |
Yuka, 11
There were loads of experiences I could never have in Japan.
I ate smoked salmon, went fishing on a boat, and road a canoe |
Anna, 10
It was absolutely wonderful. I wanted to stay in Canada longer. I was able to go fishing and caught lots of fish. I spoke a lot. There were a few things I didn’t understand but it was no problem. |
Yukiko and Naoko, 9 and 7

We were able to go on a 2-day boat trip – and we saw seals! Our first time overseas was so much fun! We spoke English quite a lot. |
Miyoko, 69
I was very satisfied. . Patricia intuitively gave me the lessons I needed in pronunciation and activities. There were many great things. It was physically and mentally a very healthy holiday. I was amazed by the beauty of the natural surroundings. If you are interested in doing a homestay here, you have nothing to worry about. |
Kayoko & Kosuke (5 years old) Parent & Child Homestay)
10 days went by so fast. The kindergarten was great. Everybody was friendly and tried to talk to us. We were introduced to many people. Kosuke went to an English-only kindergarten and I had English lessons at the homestay. No need to worry about food or anything like that; just relax and enjoy a great experience.

Naoko & Yuko (5 years old), Parent & Child Homestay
Karl and Yuko became great friends. He was very positive and friendly.
We saw seals, eagles, sea lions, starfish, gulls, crabs, sharks, etc. etc.
The house was right on the beach and we could use the beach freely. Yuko tried a bungee trampoline, which we don’t have in Japan. Yuko says he wants to do this again.
Everyday was like a dream. At first I was embarrassed to speak English but Judy was kind and encouraged me to try my best. Don’t be shy. Even if you are not sure of the words use your voice to try, somehow, to communicate. |

Pat is a very good
teacher. She taught me not to be scared to speak even though I may
make some mistakes. It is a very good course and I have learned so
much... The only thing that comes to mind is "wow"when
I tell my friends and family about Quadra.

"After dinner, we sat
and gazed into the fire without a word for a
while. I reflected about my family and friends and old things in Korea. I
loved to watch and hear the sparks fly. It sounded and looked like tiny
fireworks. The stars in the dark sky looked bigger than those in Korea …It
will be a special memory in my life."

Sometimes we did about grammars, too. Actually I didn't like to learn
grammar. But at that time I liked it , because I could understand them more
than I done in Japanese school which told me very formal grammar…?So I love
English now.. Just I am really really glad to meet Ms. Pat. And thank you for
everything.
